A spec of GREEN
Shaw Contract Group is pleased to offer "carpet diem 2, a spec of green", a seminar that is approved for Continuing Education Units (CEUs or LUs) for members of IIDA, ASID, AIA, and IFMA. Cd2 is a generic guide to writing an environmentally responsible carpet tile or broadloom specification writing. It addresses many of the environmental trends and issues facing the architectural/design community and provided some basic education about the carpet industry and its efforts to provide more sustainable products and processes.
What will I learn from carpet diem 2?
The seminar learning guide is yours to keep and is divided into three sections:
- Introduction - providing discussion points, general carpet recycling information and capabilities, and relevance to LEED certification.
- Specifications - an example of a carpet tile and a broadloom specification where all environmental language is highlighted in green ink.
- CD ROM - the same program your instructor will present, for you to keep and use (the specs are Word documents that may be highlighted, copied and pasted directly to your own specs without the hassle of rewrites).
Environmental Pursuit is an entertaining game that is used during the seminar to have some fun and to test your knowledge.
How can I organize a seminar to serve those interested and their schedules?
Your Shaw Contract Group Representative is fully equipped with training and self-guided seminar tools to facilitate Carpet Diem 2. Request training or find your rep at Shaw Inforum, toll-free 877-502-7429. For groups of more than 2 to 3 people a computer projector and light-colored wall surface or screen is all the equipment needed. An accurate count of attendees will allow Shaw to send the correct number of seminar books and CEU form packs.
What are the logistic and time requirements?
The seminar requires a minimum of 1.5 to 2 hours for CEU credit. All attendees except AIA members will need to pay the NCIDQ processing fee of $12. It takes roughly 6 to 10 weeks for the NCIDQ credit acknowledgment to reach the attendees. All forms will be distributed and completed prior to the seminar start. Shaw will submit all forms. The session is interactive and lively. We try to leave ample time for questions and will conform to your time constraints. We ask that the attendees include design professional, product specification writers and anyone may benefit within your group. The specification section is written in Carpet Specification Institute (CSI) MasterFormat. Shaw wishes to thank Ross Spiegel, CSI Immediate Past President and USGBC Board Member, for his contributions.
