What is Design?
Design is an innovative and desirable solution that exceeds a building’s program requirements and creates a sustainable environment, providing both welcoming and functioning spaces.
How is Design best illustrated through the project?
Please refer to the images.
Biggest Design Challenge?
The biggest design challenge was selecting a carpet for a dining area. This problem was solved by selecting the Blades and Fault Lines carpet tile patterns from the Walk in the Garden Collection.
What made it Innovative or Unique?
Continuing to have increased access to sustainable building materials made this process unique and innovative.
How did Design make a difference?
Shepley Bulfinch is a LEED-certified firm. It was important to us that we specify sustainable carpet systems such as the Walk in the Garden collection, for all of the carpeted spaces throughout Philadelphia University’s Kanbar Campus Center.
