If a product is recyclable but is sent to a landfill, its value is wasted. Carpet recycling prevents landfill waste and returns raw materials to Shaw to make new generations of carpet. This practice completes the cradle-to-cradle cycle and adds post consumer recycled content in the process.

Recycling carpet is easy through the Environmental Guarantee program that collects all EcoWorx products at no cost. Shaw makes your old carpet new again. Over and over.

Environmental Guarantee / How Do I Recycle My Carpet?

The Environmental Guarantee program is our way of saying, "We want it back." Not only does our recyclable carpet prevent landfill waste, it also provides high value materials to make new carpet. Shaw pledges to transport and recycle any tile or broadloom carpet made with EcoWorx backing at no cost to the customer, making it easy for you to recycle your used carpet. This saves you valuable time and money for landfill fees.

How does it work? Simply look on the back of your carpet, the phone number is printed on the back. Give us a call at +1.800.509.7429 to arrange for pick up. Material must be free of all types of debris and uncontaminated by any toxic substances, such as solvents. Adhesive residue on the backing is acceptable. No other carpet tile backing, such as PVC, or other roll carpet backings may be mixed on EcoWorx pallets. EcoWorx Broadloom and Performance Broadloom products must be cut and rolled no longer than 3 feet wide.

Through the Environmental Guarantee, we will collect carpet from around the world. To make this program environmentally responsible, international requests must be 5,000 yards or greater. Shaw will pay for the transportation cost of EcoWorx material from any international port and assume the costs to transport the product to our recycling facilities.

Recycling of Non-EcoWorx Products


Through its national collections network, Shaw is collecting its non-EcoWorx carpet to process through the Evergreen facility. Collection partners are located within 50 miles of 40 percent of the U.S. population. They test the fiber type and will route all nylon 6 carpet to Evergreen. Additionally, Shaw is investigating new avenues to recycle nylon 6,6 carpet, which includes carpet made by other manufacturers. Shaw's efforts to collect your carpet result in fewer pounds that are sent to landfill and more that enjoy another life as carpet once again.
